Happy New Year

As we celebrate the New Year we would like to thank all those who generously contributed time and money to make our community, and our world, a better place.  This past year, The Rotary Club of Evansville committed the $100,000, raised to honor the Club’s 100th Anniversary, to support the Mickey’s Kingdom community build and to name the entry plaza. As a part of the plaza, a new Rotary Club of Evansville Civic Award Recognition Wall was created with an additional $20,000 gift allowing our club to display past and future Civic Awards plaques. Over $1350 was raised for Polio eradication efforts, $800 was given to Youth First, Inc. at our Holiday luncheon, and as in the past years, $20,000 was given to sponsor the Classroom Enrichment Grants initiative.

The Rotary Club of Evansville continues its long time partnership with the Rotary Club of Tizimin and this year donated $5,000 to their club to buy medical equipment for physicians to conduct colposcopy procedures on women in the surrounding Mayan villages around Tizimin.

An additional 60 trees were planted at the Buffalo Trace Council Eykamp Scout Center. The replacement trees included a few new varieties, creating an arboretum of over 40 different tree varieties, most native to Indiana.

Another successful Rotary of Evansville Santa Run took place on December 1st at the Buffalo Trace Council Eykamp Scout Center, resulting in a $20,000 gift to The United Methodist Youth Home. This gift will be used to help build a new home for the girls residential program, allowing for the opening and operation of the Semi-Independent Living program in the current Residential group home.

Once again, thank you to all the businesses, community leaders, and Rotarians who support our Club in raising money for local community, and International projects.
