MAKE-UP MEETINGS Rotarians are able to credit any missed meetings by attending any other Rotary meeting throughout the world. The make up meeting must be attended either fourteen (14) days prior to the missed meeting or fourteen (14) days after the missed meeting in order to receive credit. Check the membership directory, back cover of the hard copy Rotations, or the electronic version of the newsletter for the locations and meeting dates of area clubs. WELCOME BACK Administrative Assistant Ruthie Shekell will be back from vacation and available to assist with Rotary issues on Monday, October 29, 2007. CONGRATULATIONS The Excellence in Public Service Series announced that Caren Whitehouse has been selected as a member of the 2007-08 class. As a participant in this national leadership program, Caren will receive specialized training for preparation to serve in key governmental and political positions. Senator Richard Lugar restated the program’s goals of identifying and encouraging outstanding Hoosier women to enter public life. Caren is one of only nineteen women selected throughout the state. TIDBITS From Gene Warren: If you want to leave an indelible impression on somebody, ask for two business cards, one for yourself and one to pass on to somebody else. You’ll always be remembered as the person who asked for two business cards. Also, always wear a sports jacket with two pockets: one to put all the business cards that you collect in, the second for your own business cards. Did You Know? From Sheriff Eric Williams: After the Rotary meeting, Sheriff Williams was overheard telling a couple of Rotarians that he is sincere about making his deputies more visible and answerable to the community. One of the ways was to remove the tinting from the marked cars’ windows so the public could see inside the vehicles and another was to prohibit the deputies from wearing the mirrored glasses so the public could see the deputy’s eyes when talking to them.
