The program runs through April. If you can donate a couple of hours a month to mentor a college student, contact Nancy Bizal. THANK YOU Thank you Jack Schriber for the informative September programs. The following was a note from Jack sent on Monday, September 24. “Just a reminder: I will not be at Rotary tomorrow (Tuesday, September 25). Amy Walker will introduce Vince Bertram. Due to a family obligation, my sister is having a "procedure" for cancer treatment; I will need to be with her. Be sure the crowd knows why I am not going to be attending. I would not want anyone to misconstrue my absence. I fully endorse Dr. Bertram and all the good he has already done for young people.” A FEW THINGS WE HAVE LEARNED From Gene Warren: We’ve learned…That it’s those small daily happenings that make life so spectacular. That to ignore the facts does not change the facts. That when you plan to get even with someone, you are only letting that person continue to hurt you. That the easiest way for us to grow as people is to surround ourselves with people smarter than we are. That everyone you meet deserves to be greeted with a smile. That opportunities are never lost; someone will take the ones you miss. That when you harbor bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere. That a smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks. And, That everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you’re climbing it.
