THANK YOU

A huge thank you is extended to Gene Warren for the outstanding July programs.

ROTARY OUTBOUND EXCHANGE STUDENT

Drew Stroshine, son of Eric and Colleen Stroshine, is leaving on August 2, for a year in Germany as a Rotary Outbound Exchange Student. After his presentation to the Rotary Club on July 31, Drew presented President Becki Alcorn with an American / German Flags pin and President Becki presented Drew with a Rotary flag for his personal use.

NO DAY AT THE BEACH

From Gene Warren: Planning to spend part of your next long weekend on the job? Blame your brain. Emory University researchers have found that earning pay excites the mind more than a windfall of cash or nabbing a lottery jackpot. Yes, we literally love to work. Maybe too much. Travel website Expedia.com and Harris Interactive say U.S. workers won’t use 415 million vacation days this year. Seems it’s getting harder to take it easy. “We see our tasks as what we’re here to do,” says Joe Robinson, author of the pro-vacation Work to Live. But all that work takes a toll. Long hours increase heart-disease risk, while not vacationing can cut productivity. So give us a windfall and we’ll work on relaxing. Promise.
