BOARD MEETING Due to the Celebration of Service on May 8, the May Board of Directors meeting is May 15 at 10:45 AM in the G.A.R All members are invited to attend. MAY MEETING CHANGES New Member Orientation is rescheduled to May 22 at 11:00 AM due to the change in the Board meeting. The Marketing meeting is moved to May 22 at 1:00 PM. Please adjust your schedules to reflect the changes. CELEBRATION OF SERVICE An extra special thank you is sent to Ruthie Shekell, who without her tireless and last minute work the Celebration of Service would not have happened. Also, to Craig Mc Nett, who was left off of the list of Committee members. SPEAKER'S BUREAU UP-DATE David Henze, dhenze@sigecom.net, is updating the information for the Rotary Speakers Bureau. Please check the information on the website, www.evansvillerotary.com and let David know if there are any changes. EDUCATION GRANTS Over the following weeks, the education grants recognized at the May 1, meeting will be listed. Multi-School Grants 1.Deborah Vannatter, Exploring Solar Energy,$2500.00, Funds will purchase a telescope, illuminated orbiters, radiometers, and solar balloons for teaching 4th grade science in seven elementary schools (Cedar Hall, Daniel Wertz, Delaware, Lodge, Harper, Stockwell and Vogel). 2.Virginia King, Robo Rally II, $1980.00, Funds will purchase LEGO NXT accessory kits, gears and Robot kits to expand the highly successful robot competitions for middle school students at Harwood, Helfrich Park, Oak Hill, Perry Heights, Plaza Park, and Washington. 3. Andrea Gordon, Clickable Story Book Library, $2500.00, Funds will purchase approximately 200 books and recording supplies to expand the EVSC Special Education Clickable Storybook Library. Each book is scanned into Power Point and combined with reading recordings prepared by students. The multimedia approach to reading helps moderately disabled students.
