"SUCCESS IS TO BE MEASURED NOT SO MUCH BY THE POSITION THAT ONE HAS REACHED IN LIFE, AS BY THE OBSTACLES HE HAS OVERCOME."  GEORGE WASHINGTON

ROTARY HEALTH FAIR

From Barbie Brown: There will be a Health Fair at the January 23 and 30, 2007, Rotary meetings. We really want to promote members coming early to participate...also, we have a list that is growing of services that will be provided.  There will be Blood Pressure Screenings; Weight Distribution Screenings; Body Composition Screenings; Chiropractic Screenings; Stroke Risk Screenings; Depression Screenings; Mental Health Information; Visual Screenings; Anxiety Screenings; and. Derma Scan - Facial Screening for UV Radiation Damage. All stations will be open starting at 11:00 AM Contact Marilee Fowler, at mfowler@evansvillecvb.org  or 421-2200, or Barbie Brown,   barbiealbrown@yahoo.com  or 449-4888, for additional information.

AMBASSADOR SCHOOL NEEDS

From Marianne Cox:  I am an Ambassador to Holy Rosary and they have a request for 20 solar-powered calculators, if anyone has some they'd like to donate. They need them for their math classes. Contact Marianne Cox at mecox@cinergycom.com

THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS

Please continue to keep all Rotarians and their families in your thoughts and prayers.

POLIO NATIONAL IMMUNICATION DAY  (NID)

From Charlie Kelly: "The Evansville Club has the opportunity to participate in a Polio National Immunization Day (NID) in India from February 9 – 17, 2007. The cost of this trip is approximately $3000 and volunteers will need several shots in order to go.  The area where we will be immunizing will be around the city of Delhi in Northern India.  If possible, the organizers would like to have commitments from the Evansville Club as soon as possible.  We need to know who is interested in going and who can provide financial support.  Please let Charlie Kelly, 436-9288, know if you have any interest in volunteering to go on the NID or in helping to finance a member who is willing to go."

WELCOME

Jeff Lake introduced Cedric Hustace, as our newest Rotarian. Ced’s classification is Artist. Introduce yourself and welcome Ced to your Rotary Club.

ROTARY YOUTH EXCHANGE

From Andrew Alexander: We will have an opportunity for a local family to host our inbound exchange student Lubo, approximately mid-February. Lubo currently lives in Newburgh with Rotarian Roxie Baas and her husband Scott. Lubo attends the Signature School and rides to and from school with fellow students. Lubo is from Slovakia and has a good command of English. He is much like a typical teenager and had made numerous friends through school. As mentioned at our Tuesday meeting, we will help arrange transportation to and from school for Lubo as this is often a prospective family’s primary concern. Consider discussing this unique opportunity to spend several months as an ambassador for our Club and our country with your spouse, family, good friends or neighbors. Keep in mind our host family does not have to be a Rotarian. Please contact Steve Groves, 434-4880 or steve@01inc.com or Andrew Alexander, 476-1456, or Andrew.alexander@sci-us.com  to express your interest.

NEW MEMBER PROPOSAL

Doug Wink, proposes Cathy Eichele,   Tri-State Better Business Bureau, Inc., as a new member with the classification: Business Organization / Development. Anyone objecting to the proposal should contact the Membership Committee.

GROUP STUDY EXCHANGE

Host families are still needed. The GSE team from Tochigi City, Japan, Evansville’s sister city, will arrive from Corydon, IN on Thursday, April 5, 2007. They will attend the Warrick meeting that Thursday. Team members will attend our Rotary Club meeting on Tuesday, April 10, then depart for Terre Haute. During their time in Evansville, team members will be attending cultural events and visiting local businesses. Host families are needed for the members of the team from April 5 through 9. Contact Mark E. Miller, mmiller@indidanlawonline.com, or 425-1490 if you would like to be a host family or provide transportation for the team.

CELEBRATION OF SERVICE

Marilee Fowler could still use a few good Rotarians to serve on the Celebration of Service Committee. If you can give a little time or assist in the collection of auction items, please contact Marilee at 421-2200 or mfowler@evansvillecvg.org.
